Weekend Wrap Up 11.11.16

Happy Veterans Day weekend! A big 'thank you' to those out there who have served our country in the military, including a few members of my own family. It seems appropriate that we're wrapping up election week by recognizing the individuals who protect our freedom. What plans do you have for the long weekend? If you find yourself with some downtime, check out this week's health news.

Weekend Wrap Up 11.4.16

Friday is here! In just a few short hours, we will officially start the weekend. I'm keeping it low key here in Nashville with dinner plans and chores on the schedule, along with working an evening shift in the emergency department. What are you up to? Enjoying some amazing fall weather and getting some R&R, I hope. If you find yourself with some downtime, check out this week's health news.

Weekend Wrap Up 10.28.16

Happy Friday! How was your week? The past few days have coasted by, beautiful fall weather adding an element of contentment to the work week. My kitchen is overflowing with ingredients for baked goods I committed to prepare for an upcoming Halloween party. I'm currently regretting the moment I decided to peruse Pinterest for dessert ideas rather than simply purchase cupcakes from the grocery store. Oh well. I may not have a costume, but I will certainly have candy. What are you up to this weekend?

Weekend Wrap Up 10.7.16

Well, hello! Are you as excited for the weekend as I am? A cling-on upper respiratory infection has me feeling exhausted and under the weather this morning, I'm definitely ready for a day off. Not to mention, I'm excited to take advantage of this amazing fall weather before Hurricane Matthew's stormy remnants make it northward to Nashville. On the calendar for the weekend are a brunch and yard game tournament as well as an outing to a local vineyard for some wine tasting. What's on your agenda?

Weekend Wrap Up 10.2.16

Happy Weekend! What are you up to? This weekend has been pretty standard, balancing chores, relaxing, and a few social activities. All in all, I can't complain about how the last few days have gone. Although I do have to say, I'm not quite ready for Monday to arrive. If you could use some reading material to entertain you in this weekend's remaining hours, check out the following health news stories.

Weekend Wrap Up 9.25.16

Ahhh...lazy Sundays are simply the best. While I have gotten a few things accomplished on my 'to-do' list, I kicked of the morning with cold pizza for breakfast in true 'do whatever you want, it's the weekend' style. As an added bonus, unseasonably warm fall weather has made poolside lounging and burger grilling possible this afternoon. I couldn't ask for a more relaxing way to get a little R&R in preparation for the craziness of the upcoming work week. If you could use some reading material for your Sunday pleasure, check out this week's more interesting medical news.

Weekend Wrap Up 9.17.16

Whew! What a week! This Thursday, the inaugural Midlevels for the Medically Underserved (MMU) class converged on Nashville for our kickoff conference. We dined at Nashville restaurants, practiced abscess I&D on chicken drumsticks, had a spirited bowling competition, and mastered foreign body removal skills using hot dogs. Our week was jam-packed with learning, new NPs ending the conference with 14 continuing education hours. And, we had plenty of time for a little fun, too.

Weekend Wrap Up 9.8.16

Happy, happy Friday! The short work week has whizzed by. Given my habit of planning overly ambitious weekend activities, I'm heading out of town this afternoon to go camping. I can't wait to get a campfire going and to taste my first s'mores of 2016. Mmmm, delish. You can't beat a dinner consisting of chocolate, marshmallows, and red wine. What are you up to this weekend? If the workday afternoon is dragging on, check out these medical news articles on the lighter side to help pass the time.

Weekend Wrap Up 9.5.16

Happy Labor Day Weekend! I’ve been celebrating the very American end of summer holiday overseas in Iceland where I significantly underestimated just how chilly 40 degree temperatures can feel. For me, the last week has been spend hiking, dining on a tasty array of fresh seafood, and taking in the sights the city of Reykjavik has to offer. Apologies for the delay in posting this week’s news review, I also overestimated the amount of time I would have to work during my vacation. So, without further ado, if you could use some reading material for what’s left of the long weekend, check out this week’s more interesting medical news stories.

Weekend Wrap Up 8.26.16

Happy Friday! How was your week? Today is the first day I'm not feeling the effects of sleep deprivation. Fully (I think) recovered from working a few night shifts in the emergency department, I'm ready to take on the weekend in full force. With summer coming to a close, I'm feeling the pressure to maximize pool time and other outdoor activities tomorrow. What are you up to? If you could use some reading material as you relax over the next few days, check out this week's more interesting medical news.

Weekend Wrap Up 8.19.16

Happy Friday, folks! I hope your week has been a good one. The post-vacation blah's struck me hard this week making it difficult to get motivated. There's always next week, right? Just as the "I'm so glad to be back in town" feeling is abating, I'm heading away again for a girl's getaway in Chattanooga, TN. While the town is just two hours from where I live, I've never actually visited. So, I'm looking forward to a few days of exploration ahead. If you're looking to shake some Friday boredom, check out this week's more interesting medical news stories.

But, until then, I plan to continue to maximize time to relax and enjoy the outdoors. What do you have planned for the weekend? If you could use some reading material over the next few days, check out this week's more interesting medical news.
