Weekend Wrap Up 2.3.17

Happy (almost) weekend! I am looking forward to a lazy Saturday morning more than ever after what has seemed like a looong week. Chilly weather here in Nashville promises to make it the perfect Saturday morning to watch Netflix on the couch underneath a cozy blanket. And then, of course, there's Super Bowl Sunday to look forward to. While I'm not the biggest NFL fan around, I will obviously take full advantage of the opportunity to do some serious eating (guac, anyone?!). What's your favorite Super Bowl snack?

Weekend Wrap Up 1.27.17

It's been a while since I posted a 'Weekend Wrap Up'. Somehow it seems my days have been blurring together, weekends like weekdays chock full of activities and obligations. So, it's time to officially (for real this time), get back into a rhythm for 2017. This weekend, chilly weather promises to keep me confined indoors so I plan to get a few odd jobs done around the house. What are you up to? If you could use some reading material over the next few days, check out this week's medical news on the lighter side.

Weekend Wrap Up 12.18.16

I hate cold weather. I really, really, really hate cold weather. So, I was pretty much a huge whiner this week when I awoke each morning to temperatures in the 20's. The biting chill and crispy frost on the ground does make it feel like the holidays (for which I am not yet ready) are right around the corner, I suppose. And, who doesn't like a little holiday cheer, right? This weekend I plan on talking myself through the biting chill in the air and finishing up my Christmas shopping. What are you up to?

Weekend Wrap Up 12.4.16

Does holiday party season seem to officially be in full swing for anyone else? With two Christmas parties and two birthday parties to attend, the weekend has flown by. I've already eaten my share of cake and chocolate for the season and December has just begun. What are you up to this weekend? If you could use some reading material for your downtime on this dreary Sunday afternoon, check out this week's more interesting medical news.

Weekend Wrap Up 11.18.16

Happy Friday! What's on your agenda for the weekend? With the Thanksgiving holiday just around the corner, I anticipate you're making travel plans or grocery shopping to feed a crowd next week. Fortunately, I think I'm off duty when it comes to cooking this year. Rather, you'll find me eating stuffing straight from the pan. If you could use a distraction from holiday chores, cooking, and cleaning, check out this week's latest health news stories.

Weekend Wrap Up 11.11.16

Happy Veterans Day weekend! A big 'thank you' to those out there who have served our country in the military, including a few members of my own family. It seems appropriate that we're wrapping up election week by recognizing the individuals who protect our freedom. What plans do you have for the long weekend? If you find yourself with some downtime, check out this week's health news.

Weekend Wrap Up 11.4.16

Friday is here! In just a few short hours, we will officially start the weekend. I'm keeping it low key here in Nashville with dinner plans and chores on the schedule, along with working an evening shift in the emergency department. What are you up to? Enjoying some amazing fall weather and getting some R&R, I hope. If you find yourself with some downtime, check out this week's health news.

Weekend Wrap Up 10.28.16

Happy Friday! How was your week? The past few days have coasted by, beautiful fall weather adding an element of contentment to the work week. My kitchen is overflowing with ingredients for baked goods I committed to prepare for an upcoming Halloween party. I'm currently regretting the moment I decided to peruse Pinterest for dessert ideas rather than simply purchase cupcakes from the grocery store. Oh well. I may not have a costume, but I will certainly have candy. What are you up to this weekend?

Weekend Wrap Up 10.7.16

Well, hello! Are you as excited for the weekend as I am? A cling-on upper respiratory infection has me feeling exhausted and under the weather this morning, I'm definitely ready for a day off. Not to mention, I'm excited to take advantage of this amazing fall weather before Hurricane Matthew's stormy remnants make it northward to Nashville. On the calendar for the weekend are a brunch and yard game tournament as well as an outing to a local vineyard for some wine tasting. What's on your agenda?

Weekend Wrap Up 10.2.16

Happy Weekend! What are you up to? This weekend has been pretty standard, balancing chores, relaxing, and a few social activities. All in all, I can't complain about how the last few days have gone. Although I do have to say, I'm not quite ready for Monday to arrive. If you could use some reading material to entertain you in this weekend's remaining hours, check out the following health news stories.

Weekend Wrap Up 9.25.16

Ahhh...lazy Sundays are simply the best. While I have gotten a few things accomplished on my 'to-do' list, I kicked of the morning with cold pizza for breakfast in true 'do whatever you want, it's the weekend' style. As an added bonus, unseasonably warm fall weather has made poolside lounging and burger grilling possible this afternoon. I couldn't ask for a more relaxing way to get a little R&R in preparation for the craziness of the upcoming work week. If you could use some reading material for your Sunday pleasure, check out this week's more interesting medical news.

Weekend Wrap Up 9.17.16

Whew! What a week! This Thursday, the inaugural Midlevels for the Medically Underserved (MMU) class converged on Nashville for our kickoff conference. We dined at Nashville restaurants, practiced abscess I&D on chicken drumsticks, had a spirited bowling competition, and mastered foreign body removal skills using hot dogs. Our week was jam-packed with learning, new NPs ending the conference with 14 continuing education hours. And, we had plenty of time for a little fun, too.
